Film promotion analysis

In this post I will be analysing a film poster, magazine cover and a trailer. The movie I have chosen is The Dark Night Raises.

The poster gives a personal identity of the movie as it is familiar with previous posters such as the dark night poster. The poster is more cahotic as there is a red flame of fire around the batman sign just like the old poster but the building around the batman sign are falling which helps the viewer understand that the franchise is coming to an end. If you look at the dark night poster the building in the background is still stable and standing and in the dark night raises poster the building is falling down and barley standing. In both these posters the batman sigh features and also does batman which helps the viewer identify the movie.

The trailer also lets the viewer identify any new characters and give the viewer a feel if the story of the film. The trailer also uses the name of the director Christopher Nolan which will help promote the film.

The release of the dark night raises is one of the most anticipated movies of 2012 so there fore will be on the cover of every big film magazine. The covers will mainly use one of the main characters as the main image as this will be familiar to the film and the readers will relate to the other two movies.

Warner bros use the same house style in all of their big movie posters such as Inception and Dark knight rises this helps the audinece identify the brand. In both these posters they have used the key image as the main star of the movie with the background of buildings.
